Grandmother’s Cornbread “Yankee Style”.

Directions:

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in cornmeal.

In small bowl beat eggs with a fork, add milk and butter. Add all at once to cornmeal.

Stir with a fork until flour is moistened. Batter may be lumpy, it is okay do not stir any more.

Pour into 9x9x2 or 8” square greased pan.

Bake at 425F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top.

  • 1 cup sifted flour

  • 1/8 cup sugar

  • 4 tsp. baking powder

  • 3/4 tsp. salt

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
