Grandmother’s Five Flavor Pound Cake.
Directions:
Cream together butter and shortening; add sugar and beat well at medium speed of electric mixer. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Combine dry ingredients and add to first mixture alternately with milk, ending with flour mixture. Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan and bake at 325 F for 1.5 hours - or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack. Spoon hot glaze over warm cake, cool completely and serve.
For Glaze: In small saucepan bring sugar and water to a boil. Remove from heat; add almond extract. Spoon hot glaze over warm cake.

1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. rum flavoring
1 tsp. coconut flavoring
For Glaze:
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1/2 tsp. almond extract
